Not normal: It is never normal to have blood in your stools. That said, it doesn't mean it has to be due to something serious as hemorrhoids are both common & a common cause of blood in stool. Blood in the stool should be evaluated. If bright red or maroon then a lower GI tract scope (colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, proctoscopy) is first step. If black bloody stool then upper scope indicated. See a GI doctor.
