IV Fentanyl: As long as there was no anoxic brain damage i would say he just needs to clear the fentanyl and this will take time. Also how much was given and for what reason may also be important to know. Also if anything else was used.

Too vague: It sounds as if he is following what would be an expected course for needing to have IV fentanyl to begin with. I hope that he does well, i'd suggest voicing your concerns to medical team as there is likely more information that would help you feel more at ease that they could provide.
