I am a 70 yr old female with copd (currently controlled with inhalers no oxygen use) and i have to have conscious sedation for cataracts and was told i'd be given versed & fentanyl. is fentanyl safe with copd?

Make certain that the physician doing the cataract surgery is familiar with your history of COPD, so the dose of Versed/Fentanyl will be monitored closely. "Conscious sedation" for the time to complete the cataract surgery is safe with monitoring with a qualified assistant to the ophthalmologist.
