Not usually: But this is common with "sciatica" or nerve root irritation in your low back. The common complaints of nerve compression syndromes in your low back are pain anywhere from your low back, buttock, thigh, knee, leg and into your foot. It can be in any of these locations independently as well. Hernias usually dont give you knee and buttock pain.

Unlikely : There are types of hernias that can cause buttock pain, such as a rare obturator hernia. It's more likely due to a primary musculoskeletal problem with the leg and/or spine.
