Trauma can: Lead to arthritis. While the basal skull frx may have caused a number of issues at first, long term, if no displaced fragments it should heal without issue. However trauma significant enough to cause a basal skull frx probably did damage to joints of cervical spine, like facets, that could lead to arthritis.
