What will happen if my hand muscles artrophied for one year due to nerve transection?

Loss of strength: Unfortunately, the nerves in the human body do not regenerate. However, with some aggressive physic therapy, you will regain some strength and range of motion. See your neurologist or primary care physician and get started asap

Remains the same: Assuming continued complete transection of the nerve after 1 year, it is likely that the atrophy will remain and nerve recovery will not occur.

Common problem: This is a common occurrence after a nerve laceration. Unfortunately the muscle usually will not recover its' volume.
