A member asked:

Can drinking alcohol cause a sore tongue?

Not directly, but...: If you have a small laceration or ulcer on your tongue, initial contact with an irritant like alcohol could sharply increase your perception of pain. Conversely, after several alcoholic beverages, your awareness of pain could diminish as you succumb to the effects of alcohol or accidentally bite and injure yourself if you become inebriated.

Of course: Alcohol or tobacco may irritate the mouth and cause tongue inflammation and soreness.
