Can i have acdf surgery if i have prostatitis?

Depends : If the prostate inflammation is associated with active infection, then elective surgery is not recommended, until active infection is treated. But discuss with your spine surgeon and urologist. At times your spine surgeon may discuss with your urologist, or primary care doctor, or infections disease doctor to make a final decision as to when best to schedule your elective surgery.

Ideally, you should : Be without any potentiial source of infection when undergoing this surgery except in an emergency such as a progressive weakness or signs of spinal cord compression. You want to be in the best shape for any elective surgery or at least cleared by your own doctor to minimize risks. Not being a smoker and being in good physical shape will increase odds of a successful outcome.

Acdf : You should not have ACDF surgery if you have any active infection. I recommend making sure the infection is fully treated before going ahead with your spine surgery. You should also make sure that your surgeon knows about any possible infections.
