Iron stores: A low ferritin level means that you have low iron stores and is a sign of iron deficiency. In the absence of severe anemia it is usually not critically dangerous, however should be evaluated and treated.

28-30 micrograms/L: Is considered the average ferritin level range for an adult female your age. As adult iron stores are depleted, the level will fall to less than 15. Both iron deficiency and iron storage depletion (reserve) may be going on. So, best to get some direct medical advice. Iron supplements may be appropriate as well as taking a closer look at what else may be going on.
