I thought iron and ferritin had been tested for but i don't see it does it need to be tested for specifically or is it part of a panel?

Both: Always ask your doctor what tests are going to be run. Iron & ferritin can be ordered as individual tests but are often combined as part of an iron panel or profile, which may include transferrin, TIBC & saturation, too.
