Not at all: Frozen shoulder or adhesive capsulitis is a self-limited process. Even though we do not know the exact causes, we do know its natural history. In general, after the initial pain (inflammatory phase) wears off, the stiffness will resolve mostly on its own over a 8-16 month period. You may not regain 100% of the motion, but you may be close. Physical therapy or surgery may not improve the result!

Treatment: Includes therapy, injections and sometimes surgery. Once it resolves, the shoulder should be fine.
