Yes: There are studies to show that a healthy diet with regular exercise (at least 150 minutes/week of moderately intense aerobic activity) and a >7% weight loss can prevent the progression of pre-diabetes to diabetes. Studies have also shown that a number of medications can prevent this progression of pre-diabetes to diabetes, but lifestyle changes outperform medications.

Diabetes prevention: Good nutrition & regular exercise leading to maintenance of appropriate weight is key to "preventing" diabetes. Recent study (http://www.Bmj.Com/content/347/bmj.F5001) suggests lower risk w/eating whole blueberries, grapes & apples, compared to drinking fruit juice. In general, mediterranean diet also has demonstrated benefit in lowering risk of diabetes, too. Don't ignore regular exercise.
