how long does it take for neuropathy to set in, if you've had diabetes about 5 years?

Variable: The longer you have diabetes the greater the chances of developingpdn. The fact that you have gone 5 years is great, i assume you have type 2 dm. If you keep your sugars under good control with diest/exercise/medication you may never get neuropathy.
