Few theories: Calcific tendonitis most commonly involves shoulder.Three main theories: reactive calcification; endochondral ossification with tendon cells converting to cartilage cells to form bone; ectopic bone formation with change of mesenchymal stem cells into osteogenic cells(bone forming cells). Tendintis usually deposits of hydroxyapatite (a crystalline calcium phosphate) in any tendon of the body.

I am a rower and i run a lot. I have a pain at the back of my heel. Doctors tell me its calcium depositing on Achilles tendon. What should I do?
In 1998 I had a biomalleolar. In May 2017 I had a calcium deposit removed from the middle in between both joints. Almost a year later my Achilles tendon is popping, hurting swelling can't walk for long periods sometimes I feel pain going up my calf.
My achilles tendion is very painful even at rest n has a bump n I am now feeling it in my calf as well. There is also calcium buildup on it. Options?
