Punctal Plugs: You already have most of the symptoms of dry eyes. Most common symptom is foreign body sensation. Occasionally there is paradox tearing from the lacrimal gland due to irritation. You are using a lot of drops. First you should have a workup for sjogren's syndrome by a rheumatologist. Then you need to have punctal plugs placed by an ophthalmologist that will decrease need for drops dramatically.

You should obtain thyroid profile and have a Schirmer test done by your ophthalmologist. Try Genteal eye drops for short term, but be sure to see your ophthalmologist.
