do you have 2 placentas when having twins?

Twin placentas: You can have 1 or 2, depending on what is called placentation. It's a little complicated! if there is one fertilzed egg that splits into 2, depending on when it splits, there may be one or 2 placentas. If there are 2 eggs to start with and both are fertilized, then there will be 2 placentas.
