No relation: Eye pain upon waking has no relationship with the presence or absence of cancer. The most common etiology is a form of dry eyes called meibomitis. Eye trauma can also do the same. You should see an eye md for an evaluation.

You may have dry eyes and need to try artificial tears and a complete eye exam by an ophthalmologist

It is not a specific: It s not a specific sign of cancer. However, the presence of it does not rule out anything. Better see your dr and find the cause (most likely, not cancer). Best wishes.
