Maybe: A hernia at the umbilicus with a deep cleft can allow dead skin and lint to accumulate. This can get infected. Just keep it clean with a q tip now and then.

Hernia: Possibly. If the hernia is creating a pocket or fold of skin, moisture can get trapped in there and get smelly.
