Pimples: Not like the ones you see on your face but little clear bumps that appear on your cheeks can be mucoceles or blocked salivary glands. If you do see a bump with a white center this can be a fistula from an infection. Best to see your dentist to evaluate eithe way.

"Pimple on my gum": I have many patients describe having a pimple on their gum, however, rather than having the same mechanism as a comedone for instance, the source of these "gum pimples" or "gum boils" happens to be an odontogenic abscess. The red, circumscribed, inflamed, sometimes with a white center and sometimes draining area (parulis) can look like a pimple, but is actually different.

Abscess not pimple: A "pimple" located on the gums several (5-8) millimeters away from the gumline would often be a nerve that has gone bad in the tooth and either root canal treatment or tooth removal are recommended treatment. If it is located close to the gumline, then that is a periodontal (gum) abscess. See your dentist if you have any swelling in your mouth.
