Smell, yes, bad, no: Menstrual blood does have a "smell" like blood to those who are sensitive to it. A bad odor is not characteristic of normal menstrual blood unless there is one of three things present. 1.) A vaginal infection 2) A intrauterine(endometritis or pyometria(pus). infection. 3). An infected cancer of the cervix or vagina. All of these conditions require a GYN MD visit.
