Why does tums (calcium carbonate) work if i have little stomach acid?

Gerd: You have gerd and Tums neutralizes the acid in your stomach. If this happens to you frequently you need endoscopy by a gastroenterologist and possibly placed on a ppi like Nexium (esomeprazole) or prilosec.
Created for people with ongoing healthcare needs but benefits everyone.
