Also find cause: Metabolic causes of kidney stones need to be ruled out ; managed accordingly. Drink lots of water 8 - 10 glasses/day and minimize salt intake. Medication such as hydrochlorthiazide may be indicated if urinary calcium output is higher than normal (hypercalcuria), increase urinary citric acid if low, or Allopurinol if you have uric acid stones (often associated with diet).
