I had second lower molar extracted 8 days ago, should the socket still be open, dark red/blackish inside? i still ache, i thought socket would of healed

Healing socket: Sometimes it can take a while for the socket to heal. Make sure there are no food particles trapped in the socket. Keep irrigating the area with a syringe and a tip to get the warm salt water right into the right area. Have your dentist or oral surgeon check it for healing sometimes, the provider has to clean up the area or rotate some tissue from the gum into the area so it heals.

See below: For the socket to completely heal it will take at 4 to 6 weeks. Your pain should be getting less and less everyday. If you are having pain call your dentist and go see them.
