Acronyms: Acronyms for undifferentiated connective tissue disease and mixed connective tissue disease. The former is a category for a mixture of symptoms associated with connective tissue disease, but not specific for any one of them. Mctd is used in two ways. Some diagnose it because of presence of anti-ribonuclear protein antibodies, while others diagnoses on the basis of a combination of symptoms/signs.
