Many patients.: Lupus affects 1/1000 people, but the sex ratio is skewed toward women at 10:1. The prevalence of mctd, a much more mild disease is approximately the same. The most common autoimmune disease is sjogren's syndrome, affecting 1/500 people, again primarly females.
