Emesis/toothbrushing: The nerve that controls the gag reflex is within the back 1/3 of the tongue and sometimes hitting the tongue with the toothbrush will trigger the reaction. Also the chemicals in the toothpaste(usually the fluoride) triggers the gagging.

It is common: It can be the taste of the toothpaste or the presence of increased nausea that causes easy gagging. It is pretty common in the early phases of pregnancy and usually goes away in the second trimester.
