A member asked:

How long can staples stay on a surgery incision?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Until you die: Staples can stay on the incision long after the incision is healed. If the area is kept from infection and not irritated from movement of the staples they can stay in indefinitely. This is not needed. There is min discomfort with removal and they can and generally are taken out with healing of the wound.
