Have it checked: Have a foot/ankle specialist examine. Hard to say what treatment will be rendered without an exam. If it needs to be immobilized, a walking boot may be an option for the doctor. Really, can't make that call without determining the extent of the injury.

Maybe: The child needs to be evaluated by the pediatrician, podiatrist or orthopedist to see how badly the ankle is injured. Likely x-rays will need to be taken. Then, depending on the findings, the doctor may or may not recommend a walking boot. They do make little walking boots for kids. Sometimes we even put children into a cast.
