A member asked:

My 8 year old daughter cut her toe yesterday. it was bad enough that she had to get a few stitches in the bottom of her toe. she is having a really hard time walking now. should she stay off that foot until they come out? would a boot help? crutches?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Never had to before: In decades of doing pediatrics I never had to put a kid in a boot or on crutches for a few stitches in their toe. They can hobble with their toes in the air planting their weight on their heal.A set of open toed shoes or one such shoe may be needed until the stitches come out but little more. Eight year olds can be very dramatic, but do what you must to get through it.
