It's how you manage: It's not the disorder that makes the difference; it's how we learn and use skills to effectively manage ourselves in a given work setting. Many people with significant mental health issues, including personality disorders, work in a variety of professions and occupations. Do the training for the job and do the work on yourself. Treatment can work well!

Depends: Health professions vary widely on amount & type of training. Also, there are wide differences in types and severity of pds. It's unlikely that highly trained professionals suffer severe disabling symptoms as licensing & other credentialing would weed them out. But, it's likely that some have had personal therapy since they know it's helpful. Think about starting this in middle-age, it's exhausting.

Yes: I agree with dr. Barnam and dr. Weixel. It is how you manage and there are many personality disorders that have varying levels of effect on a persons career. Getting treatment can make all kinds of interactions easier, more fulfilling and more connected. Best wishes and good luck to you.
