Free clinics: There are many clinics in indiana that are free or charge a very nominal fee based on your income. Some of them require you submit some financial information only so they can be sure you are in the financial state you say you are. These are staffed by physicians, nurse practitioners, pa's. Call your county health office to find out where the closest one is.

FQHC: Find a federally qualified health center. Call and ask if one located near you can help you with your situation. http://www.indianapca.org/?page=FindaCHC

County clinic.: For free or low cost care, i'd visit a county clinic or a federally qualified health center (fqhc). Fqhcs are available throughout the U.S. And often serve low income or people without insurance. Also, many primary care offices take cash, so you don't necessarily need insurance to see a doctor. Take care.

How does an emergency department bill you if you have no insurance?

Like any business: Hospitals, like any business have to bill for their services. You will probably receive a bill shortly. Get in contact with their billing department. If you have no insurance, the hospital will work a payment plan with you.

Several places: 1) check with the local county hospital, they usually have a clinic( such as the tampa general hospital clinic in tampa
2) free clinics are available through most counties in the us
3)call your local rheumatologist or several to see what fda approved treatment protocols are avialable. I have patients who took Humira (adalimumab) free for 15 years on such a program.

Two years ago I was really sick and thin. Now doing better. What was it? (no insurance--thanks)

Lots of possibilitie: Your description of being sick and thin and now better doesn't give enough clues to figure out an answer. There could be so many possibilities that could cause that: stress, thyroiditis, multiple viral illnesses, poor diet, etc.
