Blood clot: This is most likely blood clot, however, retained placenta must be considered. If a sanguinous discharge continues, curettage will be necessary. If a part of the placenta is still in the uterus it is expedient to remove it now.

Get a check up.: If this "stringy stuff" looks fleshy, especially if it is accompanied by pelvic cramps and/or vaginal bleeding,, it will be advisable to get a check up to make sure that you are not passing some retained products of conception. Persistent bleeding and retention of placental tissue may lead to anemia and infection respectively. Would you be interested in video consult to discuss this matter?
