A member asked:

Which is more likely to cause caudal equina syndrome: a tarvol cyst, a lesion in thecal sac at l4, or nerve damage from tvt bladder sling and removal?

Thanks for asking!: Tarvol cyst is most likely to caused caudal equine syndrome, specially if the cyst is grater then 1.5 cm. Those cysts, tarlov cysts, are defined as cysts formed within the nerve-root sheath at the dorsal root ganglion in the spinal canal, most of them are benign.

See below: The tvt option will not cause cauda equina syndrome (ces). To develop ces you have to have damage to the cauda equina (spinal cord). My guess is the L4 lesion is most likely to do so (but still very rare).

Maybe combo, prob L4: The tarlov cyst is like a pimple or a freckle, this is usually nothing but it might be taking up space "crowding" the nearby tissues, although unlikely. If there is a lesion in the thecal sac, this is the most likely cause, but i'm not knowing what the "lesion" is. The bladder sling shouldn't be able to contribute.
