See son's doctor: Prednisone can cause weakness but so can the condition that caused his platelet count to be 29. You should have him seen by his doctor who prescribed the Prednisone for re-evaluation.

I'm assuming that...: Your son was diagnosed with itp and was started on steroids, yes? If there are other count abnormalities, such as anemia (given the fatigue), i would want to know if he has a reactive marrow (ie., are adequate retics present) and what is the neutrophil count. Marrow infiltrative disease can be mistaken for itp, and given the steroid rx, you want to be certain now. You need to see his dr. Now.
