A member asked:

Mothers diagnosis liver & kidney failure and developed vancomycin-resistant enterococci. is this contagious , should i worry? they said its in her urine.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes.: In the hospital we use gloves and isolation while taking care of patients with vre as it can be spread if you come in contact with the infected bodily fluid andhave an open wound or cut. We try to avoid spreading it to immunosuppressed patients since it is difficult to treat.
