Bariatric surgery: It is important to express your concerns to the bariatric team and have an open discussion before deciding on a particular procedure. Complete disclosure is very important.

Bypass ; sleeve: You shouldn't be afraid of the bypass. It is a misconception that the sleeve is a safer operation than a bypass. The leak rate is the same in both operations but the severity of the leak is much worse in a sleeve than a bypass. However, there is slightly a higher chance of bowel obstruction and nutritional deficiency with bypass. If i had diabetes, or gerd, or a bmi over 50, i would have a bypass.
