I have dark patches on the back of neck. can this be diabetes?

Possibly: This is typically a condition called ancanthosis nigricans and it can be a sign of Insulin resistance which can lead to pre-diabetes and diabetes. I would be screened for diabetes by your primary care provider.

Can be: Acanthosis nigracans- see dermatologist; can happen in type 2 diabetes but usually a band not patches, so do see dermatologist to be sure nothing else going on.
