Nitrazepam vs Valium: Nitrazepam is a sedative hypnotic it is approved for use in other countries. It is one of three sedative hypnotics allowed in norway. Great britain will not allow it to be used in long-term nursing home patients for the elderly. It is not approved in United States at this time. It has all of the other properties that are present in valium. However, it has only been marketed as a sedative hypnotic and not as an anxiolytic. Some people are still sleepy 18 hours after the last dose. Valium is approved as an anxiolytic and not as a sedative hypnotic but can be used for both if desired. Nitrazepam is illegal in United States at this time.
