Sometimes: If the stitches can pull the gums on either side of the extraction site completely together, so that the "hole" is completely covered, then you will not be able to see anything underneath the gums. However, if the gums cannot be pulled all the way over the "hole, " then you can still see some of the underlying blood clot. So, it depends on the situation. In both cases, healing can proceed well.
