Extremely itchy: Scabies is one of the itchiest rashes around. It is usually seen as individual reddish bumps about 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide, along the waistline area or on other places on the chest or abdomen. Fingers often have scabies bumps, about 1/8 inch size. Sometimes bumps form in a short line, usually not more than a 1.5 inch long line of little bumps. Extremely itchy bumps plus scratching suggests scabies.

Scabies: Although sometimes referred to as the "seven-year itch, " scabies can be effectively treated with killing of the mite sarcoptes scabiei, preventing cross-contamination from a close contact and/or clothes/bedding sheets. Sometimes pruritus may be secondary to postscabetic dermatitis which in turn is secondary to the skin reaction to the scabies infestation that persists after effective eradication.

Scabies: I wish i could shout this out to america. The over the counter permetrin is not strong enough any more to treat almost all cases of scabies. The bugs are getting more difficult to treat.
The prescription strength Permethrin still works well and so does the new oral medicine for this.
