Evaporative: In evaporative dry eye, there is a deficient oil layer that prevents evaporation. So, the tears clear too rapidly from the ocular surface. Some otc drops for this include systane balance and refresh optive advanced. Taking oral omega-3 supplements and improving oil gland function with lid hygiene and warm compresses can help as well. Rosacea can worsen this. Other types of tears may be needed.

No cure: Dry eye is very common, and may be decided into subtypes. However, all dry eye has in common that it is difficult to control the symptoms. Artificial tears are the mainstay of treatment, and they offer moderate relief. If there are signs of blepheritis (see an eyedoc), treating the blepheritis with lid scrubs can help with the symptoms.
