I believe the: Most important thing to do is keep your weight down as diabetes type ii is known to show its head when the weight is up especially in families such as yours. Also keep up a healthy life stile and exercise regularly for another 50 years. Do not smoke!

Healthy lifestyle: You need to stay active - aerobic exercise of at least 150 minutes a week. Maintain a healthy weight - ideally a body mass index (bmi) less than 25. Eat healthy foods avoids trams and saturated fats and high fructose corn syrup. See your doctor regularly and be screened for high blodd pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, diabetes and pre-diabetes every few years.
