Burnout: I hope that by now you've connected with a good psychotherapist to help you with your burnout issues. They can help you make needed changes in your situation to improve your health & well-being. Er is a very busy place not suited to such a full evaluation like you would get with a therapist or psychiatrist. After a quick evaluation, er might well give Lorazepam to relieve your symptoms, though.

No: An er should at least take a thorough personal present, past, family, social history and do a complete exam. It's not like you went to a walgreens walk in clinic!i.

If your concern is: Whether you might react negatively to the Lorazepam , the answer would be unlikely but difficult to predict . If you do not get adequate evaluation , and you are concerned about the negative effect of the medication , i advise you to go and see a doc and get good evaluation . In emergency room , through evaluation is technically difficult since they have other priorities

ER: Not uncommon to have a quick evaluation in the emergency room and receive Ativan (lorazepam) for symptomatic relief. Recommend talking to a mental health professional for more thorough assessment.
