Compression: Stockings? Have you tried them? They might help. But first, get an ultrasound of the veins of your legs. Do you have varicose veins? See a vascular surgeon. Varicose veins must be treated to avoid clot formation, potential for pulmonary emboli which is life threatening.

Edema: This could be many things from heart failure to an electrolyte abnormality, to bad veins. This really requires a work up from a physician.

See doctor: You may have something else going on that requires immediate physician attention. Do not try treating this at home.

Get those legs up: You are describing pedal edema. See your doctor to find out possible causes. In the meantime, limit your salt intake, use compression stockings and elevate the legs as much as you can.
