Can be good : Procedure but one of the most important issues regarding makoplasties are proper patient choice by the orthopedic doc. Partial knee replacements can be very effective, but for wrong patient it can lead to second surgery and knee replacement. This depends on how much arthritis you have and where it is. Discuss with your ortho to be sure you are an appropriate candidate and go from there.

Possibly: Makoplasty is a form of unicompartmental knee replacement. While the bone preparation is done by a handheld robotic device, it still requires an incision into the knee. A unicompartmental or total knee can be done (with or without the mako device), depending on how much arthritis is present at the time of surgery.

Yes : Makoplasty is the term used when performing a Partial Knee, Total Knee or Total Hip Replacement with the assistance of the precision installation system from Stryker called, the Mako Robotic System. I have used the system for 11 years now. The Partial Knee is great if you are a candidate. If not, the Mako Total Knee System is a great tool as well. Learn More at: www.RoboticJointCenter.com
