A member asked:

In a pathology report, what exactly is "rare microcalcification"? is there a difference compared with "microcalcification"

Not really: The little calcium chunks were probably what got spotted on mammography and how you ended up getting biopsy. The pathologist is letting your surgeon know that he/she got the right piece of breast.

Microcalcifications: The pathologist can see microcalcifications on the stained slides. Rare means he saw only few. Usually pathologist states "associated with" to state what type of calcifications.
