Many reasons: You mention pregnancy loss, this study would be essential part of the work up to find the cause, if not known. Also, thyroid studies are used routinely as a screen, so no particular reason need to be present. Usually thyroid is checked for symptoms like feeling cold or hot easily, too tired, constipated, hair thinning, or bulging eyes. Many reasons or none at all, make tft one useful test for you.

Did you ask them?: Your age, gender, family history may warrant a simple screening of thyroid function. Symptoms of thyroid disease are fairly vague, common so a test will be done to "rule out" thyroid as a possible culprit if you have such complaints.
