Posterior capsule op: Posterior capsule opacification occurs commonly after cataract surgery. Cells from the natural lens left behind during the surgery grow across the posterior lens capsule and sometimes across the posterior surface of the lens implant. They are easily removed in the office with a yag laser. Once removed, they do not return.

See your Surgeon: You should see your original surgeon for his opinion and if you still have questions get a second opinion for an eye md. Post surgical issues are best to be answered by the ophthalmologist who did your surgery and while an optometrist certainly may have some ideas they usually do not have your surgical records and would most likely refer you back to your surgeon.

Secondary cataract: A secondary cataract may be developing. In a perfect surgical case, the new lens is out in a bag that originally held the cataract. This bag can scar over, resulting in decreased vision. It is easily treated with a laser. Your eye md can tell you if this is going on.
