Cardiology 23 years experience
Relax: Studies that have looked at heart rate recovery after exercise typically did not include 18-year-olds. The studies were in older adults. Cardiac conditioning with cardio exercises usually improves cardiac recovery.

You: May be de-condioned namely lack of physical activity. It has anything to do with grandpa heart condition.
If you do not take care of yourself and follow the footsteps of your grandfather you may be affected later in life, much later. Do not smoke, drink in moderation, exercise and watch what you eat. No drugs either!
