OTC medications are: Heavily marketed to the public, but data suggests they do little if anything to alter the course of illnesses they are marketed toward. Some symptomatic relief may be achieved, but is generally short-lived. A more effective approach, with no risk to a g6pd patient, are the old standbys, rest, hydration, humidified air and time.This said, most otc meds are low risk. See g6pd.Org for specifics.
